How to Clean New Era Hats? New Era Cap Cleaning Guide
New Era hats come in a variety of fabrics, so there is no strict rule for all caps. This post includes general recommendations to clean your caps.
For polyester, cotton, and wool fabrics/blends, gentle spot cleaning is recommended with a damp soft cloth and mild, color-safe detergent. You may clean the sweat band by tilting the band forward and cleaning with mild detergent and cool water. Remove dust with a vacuum attachment with very gentle bristles (if any) or use the underside of tape or a sticky label (preferably with a light adhesive backing). After cleaning, allow the hat to air dry in a normal position to prevent any misshaping or stretching of the overall hat shape.
When cleaning your hats, it is NOT recommended to do any of the below:
a. Machine wash hats in a washer or submerge hats in water. Caps should not be put in the washer.
b. Use an iron or or apply strong heat to the embroidery, patches, or stitching. This may possibly compromise the thread used for a logo or any backing when a patch is applied.
c. Machine dry hats in a dryer. Only air dry to avoid changing the hat shape or size.
d. Use strong chemicals or a dry cleaner. These may ruin the integrity of the caps.
e. Spot clean across different color panels. Clean only one color at a time to prevent color bleeding and affecting the original cap's fabric quality.
Please note that hats containing any higher quality fabrics such as suede, leather, silk, or similar fabrics should NOT be exposed to water and require more special care when cleaning.
