Gildan 5000 (G500) vs. Gildan 2000 (G200) - What is the difference?

The primary difference between the Gildan 5000 (G500) Heavy Cotton™ T-Shirt and Gildan 2000 (G200) Ultra Cotton® is the Gildan 5000 (G500) is made with COE ("carded open end") cotton compared to ringspun cotton for the Gildan 2000 (G200). Also despite its' name (Heavy Cotton), the Gildan 5000 (G500) is lighter weight than the Gildan 2000 (G200). The Gildan 5000 weighs 5.3 oz compared to the Gildan 2000, which weighs 6 oz. The Gildan 2000 (G200) has a slightly smoother printing surface due to the ringspun cotton. The carded open end cotton fiber is fuzzier and not as aligned as ringspun cotton, which creates a more uneven knit.  Both styles are made of 100% cotton (the heather and safety colors are a 50/50 blend). The Gildan 5000 (G500) is slightly lower cost than the Gildan 2000 (G200).
