The Gildan 5000 (G500) is the Heavy Cotton™ T-Shirt and the Bella + Canvas 3001 is the Unisex Jersey T-Shirt. Both shirts are two of the best selling blank shirts of all-time. The two main differences between the Gildan 5000 and Bella + Canvas 3001 are the type of cotton fabric used and the price difference. Both the Gildan 5000 and Bella + Canvas 3001 shirts use 100% cotton as the fabric, but the 5000 uses COE (carded open end) cotton, while the 3001 uses airlume combed and ringspun cotton. The ringspun cotton for the 3001 is much smoother and refined compared to the COE cotton in the 5000. As a result, the 3001 provides a smoother and softer printing surface for printing and an overall nicer feel. This does come at a higher price as the Bella + Canvas is ~$2 more per shirt as of August 2022.
For most projects, events, and clients, the Gildan 5000 should work more than fine as it is a popular, economical t-shirt. For customers needing a premium, higher end t-shirt, the Bella + Canvas 3001 is a popular choice.
The Gildan 5000 comes in 60+ colors, while the Bella + Canvas 3001 comes in 70+ colors and its sister style, the 3001CVC has an additional 70 heather colors. The Gildan 5000 weighs 5.3 oz., while the Bella + Canvas 3001 weighs 4.2 oz. Both shirts have a tear away label. The 5000 comes in sizes: S-5XL and the 3001 comes in sizes: XS-5XL. The 5XL size may only be available for select colors, such as black, white, and the better selling colors.
