What does MAP stand for? Minimum Advertised Price Meaning
"MAP" is an abbreviation, which stands for minimum advertised price. MAP pricing aims to limit how low retailers can advertise a brand's or manufacturer's products. A MAP policy is an agreement brands and manufacturers use to set the minimum price that retailers and stores are allowed to advertise along with other terms if the MAP policy is not followed.
Although MAP pricing limits how low retailers and stores may advertise a brand's product, it does not control the final sale price. Retailers and stores may sell products at a lower price than the MAP as long as the lower price was not advertised and did not violate any of the MAP terms.
MAP may also go by M.A.P., MAP pricing, MAP price, MAP policy, or MAPP (Minimum Advertised Price Policy). All names still refer to the same minimum advertised price.
